Project: Benson’s Tuckshop

It all began with an idea and a doodle. I was boothing with Tiny Rabbit Hole at Nylon’s annual event for charity. The night before, we were brainstorming the layout of our booths and making the props / signages when this logo doodle came about. I had a marker and a foam board in hand when a verbal brief of “Can you doodle a sign for Benson’s Tuckshop please?” came in.

Almost the final version of the actual logo itself. There were just a few final tweaks left to correct. (colour, line weight, word placements, etc)

The Design

Other designs we considered:

Another design which crossed my mind was an ID tag. When I think of tuckshop, I also think of the office people who have cafeterias in their offices where they have to tap into to enter. It was a fleeting idea but another possible avenue to venture into in the future. I would love to have a Benson ID tag!

One of my favourites, I envisioned Benson being the lovable and friendly little duckling he is to be hugging the logo itself in a subtle tasteful way. Not having him physically hugging the logo but “embodying” and “enveloping'“ the logo was a bid to portray how he is the core of this project and how much of a star he is. Heh heh!
